Life in old Cusco revolves around its´ big Plaza, paved with stones and covered with sea sand to avoid accidents in the rainy seasons. It is divided in two sectors by the river Saphi. The sector called Huakaypata is the ceremonial sector and shows the traditions. Wakaypata, the crying sector, is where the political and religious ceremonies of Tahuantisuyo happen. The other half of the Plaza was the Kusipata, sector of happiness, because there, after the big ceremonies, the population came together to bring the celebrations to an end, to eat and to drink. In the middle of these sectors was high platform known as Usnu from where the Incas, priests and other officials talked to the people.
